January 2011This is a quick, brief newsletter this month. This beautiful, harsh land of ours has certainly been letting us know who is the boss - and it's not us! Our thoughts are with each and everyone of you that has been affected by flood or fire. Thankfully the shop is OK and was well out of harm's way from the water. However there are two of us in the shop who live on the river and whose yards were devastated by the water. For both of us, thankfully, the water missed our homes 'by that much'. We are both very grateful. As you can imagine, my mind has been a little preoccupied of late. So some short quick mentions from me. WHAT'S IN We have stock of Michelle Hill's new book and patterns. They are on the website in Just In New New New. WHAT'S NEW We are part of the Great Aussie Shop Hop. This is an on-line shop hop. To find out all the details, click here. Alternatively go to www.gidddayquilters.com.au. KAFFE FASSETT & BRANDON MABLY Kaffe and Brandon arrive in Australia on Tuesday Feb 1, with a lecture on Wednesday Feb 2 and a Class on Thursday Feb 3. We have two spots left in the class due to late cancellations. We also still have spots left for the lecture as well. Click here to see the details of his class and lecture. QLD FLOOD RELIEF We have a dedicated page on our website with information for those of you wondering what you can do (in the way of Patchwork and Quilting). There you will find a copy of a letter from Qld Quilters who are organising donations for all over Qld. We are acting as a drop off point to make it easy for you. Also we will be having some sewing days here at the shop if you are looking to join in and have a stitch along. I also have a quilt on that page that I am 'auctioning' with proceeds going to the Premiers Qld Flood Appeal. To have a look, click here, or else click on 'what's happening' in the top menu and then 'Qld Flood Relief'. SALE THIS WEEKEND We are having our End of Bolt sale this weekend. It will start at 6am on Saturday January 29 and finish at 6pm on Sunday January 30. You will be able to shop on-line during the whole period. The shop will only be open for our normal trading hours, which on Saturday is 9:30am to 3pm (and we are closed on Sunday). As before, 35% discount will apply to what is left on the bolt. The amount will be no less than 0.5 metre and no more than 2 metres. There is always a great selection of fabrics including Kaffe, Flannel, Reproduction, 1930's, Florals, Tonals, etc, etc. Don't forget to stop by and have a look and grab yourself a bargain while you are there.
MY GIFT TO YOU To say thank you to all our loyal customers, there is a draw at the end of each calendar month. Two names - one from in-store shoppers and one from mail/phone/internet shoppers are randomly drawn from the sales for the month. These two lucky people will each receive a Gift Voucher equal to the amount of their sale. If I haven't heard from this month's lucky winners within 2 weeks, I will re-draw the prize and announce a new lucky winner. The draw for December has been done. Drum roll please ..... Our two lucky winners for December are
Mary F from Forest Lake ($119.00), and
Georgina H from Brunswick East ($136.70).
Congratulations to these two ladies. Please contact the shop as soon as possible to verify your delivery details so that we can get your gift certificates off to you. And finally, My home is not a place, it is people. (Lois McMaster Bujold)
Enjoy!
